Things I loved in 2019 on Big screen/TV/Streaming, Podcasts and Music. The Guilty (Danish) is a beautifully acted, taut thriller.  A demoted police officer assigned to call-dispatch gets an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. The call is suddenly disconnected, the search for the kidnapper begins.

Surfing and the Hotelling Model

Should I read the book? Should I, having never surfed and having never been to Africa, Fiji or Australia? Surfing is a way of life and a “test of faith”. To be in water, is somewhat like exploring space with less-than-light-speed drives. We are simply suspending ourself in the medium, fighting ceaselessly against the wickedness of gravity.
